2020 the year which will remain etched in our memories forever. This one year changed the way many of us looked at life. A year of crisis

31st December 2019, most of us were celebrating with friends and families. Everyone was excited to welcome the new year. Just like any other year, we brought in 2020 with great pomp and show. Little did we know what was in store for us.

A pandemic took over the world and we named it The Novel CoronaVirus 2019. The virus broke out in a city named Wuhan in China and spread worldwide. Mother Nature probably had her way of dealing with atrocities towards her.

It was the first time I witnessed the entire country come to a halt — a nationwide lockdown.

In our busy lifestyles, as we all will agree we never gave enough time to our families. Family time was compromised the most. Covid-19 worked as a boon for it. We were locked up with our families for months.

This was my first experience with Ludo and carrom with my family and I admit, I loved it. I enjoyed rustling up new dishes for my loved ones and watching every member contribute to the household work lit up my smile every day. I realized that at the end of the day, the ultimate thing that mattered was having a loving family.

Schools and offices came home. Every child, teacher, parents, and even grandparents, some of who were known as the technically challenged suddenly turned tech-savvy! All of a sudden I discovered a new friend — the world wide web. I began to enjoy surfing the internet. I experienced many fun-filled evenings with popcorn and the OTT platforms.

Life took a very different turn. Social gatherings changed to group video calls, office meetings became virtual. Difficult at first but slowly we all adjusted to them.

The bright smiles went behind a wide variety of masks. C-19 had become a household name. Cleanliness and hygiene prioritized themselves. We began to accept the NEW NORMAL.

We saw many of our loved ones fight for their lives. Some won the battle and unfortunately, some lost it. We saw Bollywood lose some of its greatest stars. Many lost their source of livelihood. We saw the medical fraternity slog day and night. We heard many cries and witnessed unstoppable tears.

The year 2020, was referred to by The Oxford English Dictionary as,‘ a year which cannot neatly be accommodated in one single word.’ We can call it a year of trials and challenges or a year of ups and downs. It is a year that will remain etched in our lives. Prayers for Mother Earth… Prayers for mankind... Let us pray and support each other.
